I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your] letter, No: 4/10, of the 31st January enclosing an appli- cation from Mr: Cormack for an increase in his emoluments, and, in reply, to inform you that if, as I understand, you are of opinion that sufficiently good grunas exist to warrant the favourable consideration of Mr: Cormack's application, you should take the necessary steps to bring¦ it, together with any representations you may be prepared to submit in support of it, before the notice of the Governor, informing me, in due course, of the result vi your action.
